Do citizens consider immigration to be a threat or to be an opportunity to transform ageing societies? How can governments create acceptance instead of resistance to change?
The contributors of this pan-European book answer these crucial questions by analyzing the citizens’ viewpoints not just towards immigration itself, but also to gender relations, the elderly and life satisfaction in general. They focus on the interrelationship of these socio-demographic factors and provide better understanding of the circumstances influencing people’s perceptions and changing value systems.
The study was funded by the European Commission as part of the international research project FEMAGE – Needs for female immigrants and their integration in ageing societies.
